I myself spent 5 weeks with GHDT in Oct/Nov so can relate to every word that you have just written - I am reduced me to tears - both good and bad. Your blog just makes me long for the Gambia even more.
I met some incredible, humbling people during my visit who will remain with me for years to come - their ability to keep smiling and give with such generosity is a lesson that I think everyone could learn and benefit from.
As for Heather and Anna...Well I have unfortunately never met Heather but I have only every heard touching and remarkable accounts about her. As for Anna well I think that 'an angel on earth' is just about spot on. Anna is a truely unique individual who has such a strength of character and heart and is a true inspiration to all that meets her

Such a wonderful diary/account of the truly awe inspiring work that all the volunteers do for this charity. Extremely thought provoking and humbling when compared to our Western privileged existance.
I take my 'hat off' to you all working in the heat, dust and heart-rending conditions but also, congratulations, on the amazing difference that you make to the lives of the people and animals in the Gambia.
